Voice Overs

VOICE OVERS – CHARACTER
ON AIR RADIO – RADIO IMAGING – TV – DOCUMENTARIES

Voice overs are exactly what they sound like they are…a Voice over the music or sound bed. They can be for radio commercials, or TV commercials, even Movie trailers, which is the voice you hear over the movie advertisements, or what we also call ‘the shorts’ before the film!

Who can do them? Anyone…but not everyone can do them the right way! You have to be a voice actor to do voice overs correctly. They should sound natural if need be, or dramatic if that’s what the script calls for! Either way, a voice over artist, is someone that can take direction from a producer and put it down on tape.

RADIO and TV VOICE OVERS

The types of radio imaging that I can offer are: Smooth Jazz, Adult Contemporary, Hot Adult Contemporary, Country, Rock, CHR, News talk, Sports talk, Urban. When you listen to the radio, you hear four things for sure:

  • The jock that’s on the air
  • The music that the jock is playing
  • The commercials
  • The voice that’s in between all of the above! It’s called ‘Imaging.’

CHARACTER VOICES

These are different dialects, accents, styles or animated sounds that a voice talent can mimick. My accents include, British accent with a sophisticated sound, or an English accent but very friendly and casual. Spanish accent, which is more of a Brazilian flavor, and I can do Southern Accents, which include, a sweet southern belle type of voice, or an older woman, also a crotchety old woman, even a male southern voice! I also do one very silly character voice, that sounds like a stuffed animal that came to life! My kids like that one the best!
